APRIL 12: RIVERS PEACEFUL

RIVERS PEACEFUL

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

"Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go. O that thou hadst hearkened to My commandments! Then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea."
Isaiah 48:17-18
Today's Read: Isaiah 48; 51; Prov.3:6-6
------
Israel's relationship with Christ was one of erratic inconsistency:
-Her heartbeat was irregular.
-Her waywardness regular.
-Her responsiveness to God seldom singular.
80% of the time (which might be generous) she returned to visible idols, leaders, and surrounding nations for her comfort, welfare, and hope.
She rejected, refused, and resisted God's beautiful pure advances and she accepted so much less, so much of the time, than His desire for her.
------
Hmmm ...
This passage above looks beautiful, doesn't it? Did you know that it's situated in the midst of a massive heart attack being experienced by Israel?
Did you know that Israel is once again refusing and resisting God's advances to such an extent that He's sent in a vicious nation (Babylon) to "jar" and dismantle her?
Did you know that His "call" for Babylon was to ultimately "pull" Israel back into relationship with Himself because she was so hell bent on a mission of destroying herself?
"Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel and are coming forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the Lord and make mention of the God of Israel but not in truth nor in righteousness.
... Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass.
Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time thine ear was not opened; for I knew that thou wouldest deal treacherously and wast called a transgressor from the womb."
Isaiah 48:1,4,8
------
Did you know that God loved and still loves Israel to such a heightened degree that He will judge the nations who hurt her and torment her?
Did you know that God is an unchanging God who is unrelenting and unflagging in His love for His own?
Did you know that the same God who has His eternal eye on Israel has His eternal eye on "you?"
It's true.
In spite of all of your realities,
In light of your truths,
God remains faithful and constant in His love for His people Israel ... and for you and me.
He keeps His heart and His eye on His beloved one.
He keeps a steady supply of grace drawing His beloved one, even through calamitous sinful seasons.
He keeps loving, forgiving, wooing, and drawing.
100% of the time, at Israel's worst and at our worst,
God loves us best and He loves us yet.

-----
The truth for all of us is that we experience very little of what the loving Father has for us.
It's His grandest intention to immerse us in a love we can't comprehend,
In order that we experience a peace and a joy that we can't begin to understand.
-----
Too many people believe they've gone too far, committed too many sins, for God to love them.
Open up God's precious word and survey His unending love on His people Israel and you will be filled with hope at what the everlasting love of the Father has the power to do.
May peace like a river softly attend you.
May you find rest in His settled truth and continual grace.
May you be refreshed,
Renewed,
Regenerated.
"Behold, He makes all things new."

Three Study Suggestions:

1) Read today's passages and record a scripture on your hand or somewhere on your body where it will remain with you throughout the day.
2) Ask the Lord to direct you into a season of Israel's life and record God's activity throughout.
3) Praise God for His faithfulness and worship Him.
