EACH OF US

EACH OF US

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

Each of us must contend with this dastardly, ghastly, grotesque creature called self.
Enflamed by every kind of insatiable lust, self imposes itself into every moment of our waking hours.
For men to ask, how men could commit vile acts, is a great mystery to me.
Haven't we all got something so sick lurking within ourselves that we shudder at our capacity for evil in some arena?
Hmmm ...
-Could we be done with the ridiculous attempts to make "ourselves" a standard?
-Could we be done with portraying "ourselves" as images of success and perfection?
-Could we be done with acting like "we're" something when we're really nothing ... apart from Christ.
-----
When we finally arrive at the intersection of our vileness and decrepitness;
When we finally see ourselves for what we are instead of what we want to be;
When we finally become truthful about ourselves,
The truth of God finally escapes and He makes Himself known to us.
We become what Christ intended us to be,
We become alive and live as truly free ...
When we come naked.
When we commit our true dark selves to God;
His light breaks in.
------
A truthful reality check:
"Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me."
Psalm 51:5
