MAY 23 - Proverbs 23 and Luke 12:31-34
MAY 23 - PROVERBS 23:5 and LUKE 12:31-34
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt
"Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven."
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what ye have and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth, For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
Illustration with 23 - Draw a rectangle box and divide it between the numbers. In the #2 box put a $ sign in all four corners ( representing money) and in the #3 box create a treasure chest and form the 3 into a heart. This illustration reminds us of the distinction between worldly riches and true riches. The ability to distinguish between the two is what either bridges or separates the heart from God.
"Wherefore do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for what which satisfieth not? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall live ..."
"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
Scores of resources abound on the healthy management of money and the issues created by the misuse of it. Any attempts to contribute more to "that" discussion will be left on the library shelf.
Money is simply another "counterfeit" that Satan desires to use to drag our hearts away from God. It looks like a good chunk of cheese in the mousetrap and it's super enticing, but if you've ever felt the "snap of the trap," it loses its luster and amounts to very little but additional heartache and a sore nose or lost tail in the end.
Make your life bigger than a piece of temporary cheese;
that's all that money is, don't be deceived.
Invest in your eternity.
Get near to the Christ who fills freely, gives graciously, and loves redemptively.
Eternity is right around the corner and every day that passes we're getting closer to entering it.
Make Christ your focal point and don't allow Satan to rob your soul with a counterfeit called money ... life is too short.
Giving Father, for all that's fleeting and all that attempts to pull us away from you, illumine our eyes to see rightly. For the counterfeits that Satan presents, suggesting satisfaction and sustainment through a temporal means, let us not be decieved.
Train our eyes up in Your word and cause us to invest in worthy and eternal attainments.
For treasures of wisdom, peace, and purity ... found in Your word and in fellowship with You, we ask.
Direct us toward true riches and keep us on task for a purpose eternal.
1) Record a scripture in your treasure chest that holds a lot of weight right now and repeat it seven times.
2) Get rid of the counterfeits in your life and call them what they are.
3) Pray on your knees and see what a change in posture does for aiding focal point.
