OCTOBER 19: SUCCESS

SUCCESS

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

"This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest."
Joshua 1:8-9
-----
Success - The achieving and accomplishing of a lofty goal.
-An arrival to a desirable attainment.
-The realization and fulfillment of an obtained desire.
Joshua is our definement of "success" and a true comrade to all those, who of holy aspiration, are desirous of drawing near to God.
Three virtues of Joshua:
Strategic, Active, Successful.
-----
Today's Read: Joshua 1-5; Psalm 16
A military strategist, employed as the successor to Moses, Joshua was given the role of leading the children of Israel into the Promised Land. His mission and goal encompassed land attainment, the dispersing of "tribal lots," and the conquering and conquest of peoples and nations in the land God had designated for Israel.
"Be strong and of good courage ..."
Joshua 1:6
Three times, in the first chapter of Joshua's leadership, God exerts and exhorts his servant  to be bold and courageous in the "calling" placed upon him.
Evidently, Joshua's "calling" overwhelmed him and God, gently but forcibly, had to remind him that attainment and success were the byproducts of obedience;
That procurement of land, and victory in battle, were attainments forged through dependence on God.
-----
The keys for success given to Joshua ...
Are the same keys for success given to you and me.
And this marvelous wonder ought to fill us with hope and unlimited inspiration:
The keys that unlocked the door to Joshua's attainment are, basically, delivered to us in person.
Do we wish to be successful?
Then we must employ God's word and write it in stone upon our hearts.
Do we wish to prevail and walk valiantly into the "calling" God has placed upon our lives?
Then we must march obediently to the "charge" of God's word and do all that He tells us to do.
Will it be easy?
No, of course not.
Will we always take appropriate right steps?
No, of course not.
But achievable?
You better believe it.
Dependence on God is the hallmark by which success is truly achieved.
When God's attainments become man's highest achievement, and holy aspirations are the defing of true success, the favor of God rests holy and heavy,
And success is not a desirable outcome ...
It is a promised one.
Move in the "calling" which God has placed upon you and walk confidently in the "lot lines" God has established and procured for you.
God's sure blessing on the journey.
-----
"The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup; Thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage."
Psalm 16:5-6
