PUBLIC AMAZING GRACEBy: Darrelyn L. Tutt“And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who He was, and could not for the press, because he was of little stature. And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him; for he was to pass that way. And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him and said unto him,‘Zacchaeus, make haste and come down; for today I must abide at thy house.’And he made haste and came down, and received him joyfully. And when they saw it, they all murmured saying, That He is gone to be a guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord;‘ Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken anything from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.’And Jesus said unto him,‘This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.’”Luke 19:1-10-----Unorthodox in his approach,Unconventional in his style,Unpopular with the people,Zacchaeus was a man of little stature in a great many respects,But a man of very great stature in other respects.Zacchaeus knew he needed help … and so he sought it.He knew it couldn’t be bought … or he would’ve bought it.He knew he needed grace and thus he got it.So compelled was he to Jesus,So magnetized, mesmerized, and wanting of Christ’s presence,He climbed a tree. He's just so unorthodox and originally beautiful in his approach to be near Jesus, and I think Jesus absolutely loved it.-----When men come to Jesus and realize their little stature;Jesus comes to them and shows them His big stature. And that’s how it is with God.You don’t have to present anything big,You just come and present your “little self” and it’s enough. The smaller you see yourself the better off you are;It makes Jesus look explosively big.-----In the presence of everyone,Jesus chooses to highlight the little one.In an extension of public amazing grace, Jesus invites Himself as a guest to Zacchaeus’s house and He chooses to openly abide with him and identify with him.Jesus is defining the act of redemption. The act of applying His big stature to man's little stature and doing a whole host of beautiful things in the aftermath. For Zacchaeus it translated into financial application but for you and me it might translate into another arena. It doesn’t matter what it is, my friend,It just matters that there’s a change and there’s a “Jesus” at work.------Individuals of little stature will witness a Christ of very great stature.Be encouraged, Climb your tree ... And get to Jesus.
