THE SPADE REMAINED A SPADE

THE SPADE REMAINED A SPADE
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

I knelt,
I begged,
I pled,
And prayed …
But still
The spade
Remained
A spade.

~~~
My heart grew weak,
My eyes grew dim.
I clung to God,
I wrestled Him.
The spade
Remained
A spade.
~~~
I sought release,
I longed for peace;
I begged for God,
And laid the fleece.
Lord …
Please replay
The hand.
~~~
Maybe shuffle,
Once again;
Prove me
With a
Different
Hand.
The hand remained the same.
The spade
Remained
A spade.
~~~
He didn’t play
A different card.
He didn’t allow
For one discard.
He handed me the rules.
And gave me ...
Needed tools.
~~~
He’s heard request,
That I have prayed;
He’s let
The spade
Remain
A spade …
God knows the reason why.
~~~
Lord,
Help me play the hand
I’m dealt.
And keep me in
A posture knelt,
And leaning on your grace.
Help me call
A spade
A spade.
And trust
That every card
I’m played,
Submits to Kingly face.

~~~
Lord, help me …
Give me grace.
I’m so in need of grace.
Amen.
“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ.”
1 Peter 1:6-7
