• DEPTH

    “There is nothing like depth to make us dissatisfied with superficial, shallow things. Once we have delved below the surface and had a taste of the marvels and mysteries of the deep, we realize the value of taking time and going to the trouble of plumbing those depths.”
    Charles Swindoll

  • UNDER THE RULE

    UNDER THE RULE
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

    Should we do something rightly
    If we’re thinking wrongly?
    Should motivations that are less than pure …
    Seize us,
    Slow us,
    Stop us,
    Sequester a beautiful noble deed.

    Should motivations guide our course of obedience,
    Rule our conduct,
    Determine our activity?
    ~~~
    I think not.
    ~~~
    How shallow the spiritual life would be
    If motivations were the guiding rule.
    If blame for not doing
    What we ought to be doing
    Could be cast on improper and impure motivations.
    ~~~
    Motivations are generally composed of
    A concoction of
    Impure,
    Improper,
    Selfish,
    Faulty,
    Impregnated motives surrounding self.
    Motivations are manufactured by the flesh,
    Must be surrendered to the Lord,
    Must be brought under the rule and reign of the Holy Spirit.
    Carefulness should lie in using "fleshly" motivations as an excuse for lack of obedience.
    ~~~
    If God has called you to a thing,
    Don’t allow motives to excuse you from doing the thing.
    Trust God and ask Hiim to purify your motives
    And work through you anyway.
    Trust God that His Spirit will …
    Empower you,
    Surround you,
    Lead you,
    Overpower you,
    Strengthen you,
    And overshadow all hindrances,
    Including those things called motives.
    The Spirit is greater than all;
    He'll supply,
    Just obey ....
    Do it anyway.
    ~~~
    “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it,
    to him it is sin.”
    James 4:17
  • MERCY'S SILVER CORD
    MERCY'S SILVER CORD
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt
    Pain exposure,
    Heart disclosure,
    Come in closer ….
    See.
    Heart expanding,
    Understanding,
    Tender
    Empathy.
    ~~~
    Every trial,
    Heart-ache, sorrow,
    Every kind of
    Pain;
    God refining,
    Redefining soul ...
    Through
     Silent
     Pain.
    ~~~
    Cloud encompassed
    Silver lining,
    Mercy’s silver cord,
    Bound around
    The earthly child,
    Encompassed
    By
    The Lord.
    ~~~

    “You are my hiding place; You shall preserve me from trouble;
    You shall surround me with songs of deliverance.
    Selah.”
    Psalm 32:7

  • PREPARING

    PREPARING
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

    Lord ….
    I see you right beside me,
    In this valley of decision;
    You are leading and preparing me,
    To see with greater vision.

    Enabling me in spirit,
    With a lens of keener sight;
    Altered by a realm,
    Of holy cleansing, perfect light.

    Calling me with purpose,
    By Your will and sovereign choice;
    Giving me provision,
    As I heed Your holy voice.

    Grant me deep discernment,
    As I move on fleshly plain;
    To see that my election,
    Bears the witness of Your name.
    Amen.
    ~~~
    “Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make certain about
    His calling and choosing you;
    for as long as you practice these things,
    you will never stumble.”
    2 Peter 1:10
  • THE WAIT
    THE WAIT
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt
    The longer the wait …
    the greater the tendency to induce and manufacture an outcome.
    Manipulation is a temptation that will rob you of faith and strip you of trust.
    Don’t succumb to it.
    Wait on the Lord.
  • I WALKED A MILE
    Some lines linger long ...
    Steady,
    Strong
    In the soul.
    ~~~

    I WALKED A MILE

    I walked a mile with Pleasure;
    She chatted all the way;
    But left me none the wiser
    For all she had to say.

    I walked a mile with Sorrow,
    And ne’er a word said she;
    But, oh! The things I learned from her,
    When Sorrow walked with me.

  • HE IS ENOUGH

    HE IS ENOUGH
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

    We run,
    Refuse,
    Resist,

    Our safest refuge …
    Jesus.
    We cry,
    We sigh,
    Imply

    He’s not enough.
    ~~~
    When will we understand
    that our ultimate
    Security,
    Safety,
    and
    Solace
    Is Christ alone?
    ~~~
    When will we remember …
    His past faithfulness
    in our
    Faithlessness
    was enough?

    ~~~
    For each trial,
    Test,
    Appointment,
    Disappointment
    That leads us back to
    the reality
    that Christ is our refuge …
    We must give thanks.
    He is enough.
    ~~~

    “God is our refuge and strength,
    a very present help in trouble.”
    Psalm 46:1

  • INVITE HIM IN

    INVITE HIM IN
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

    You can sit alone in the dark …
    Or you can invite God in.
    God always brings a light with Him
    So that’s a better choice.
    ~~~
    God will
    Steady you,
    Surround you,
    Stabilize,
    Synchronize
    Your soul …
    With His.
    ~~~
    He will
    Comfort you,
    Carry you,
    Cover you,
    Clothe you …

    Remind you
    Just who
    He is.
    ~~~
    Don't leave God out of your darkness.
    He brings light ...
    And light is a powerful thing.
    Invite Him in.
    ~~~

    “This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you,
    that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all.”
    1 John 1:5

  • SEA OF GRACE

    SEA OF GRACE
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

    At the end of all regrets
     Is a Sea of Grace.
     Ready to swallow us up
    With a hope we cannot understand.
    God’s mysterious ways;
    Submerging us simultaneously
    In
     Truth and Grace:
    Soaking,
    Saturating,
    Securing,
    Sealing the soul

    With the supernatural.
    ~~~
    We are not
     Restored
    Renewed,
    Replenished
     Through our own efforts
    But through empty souls extended....
    Lifted up to God:
    Empty,
    Needy,
    Insufficient.
    And filled by an overflow of grace.
    This is the mercy of God;
    Like waves
    In a Sea of Grace.
    ~~~

    “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.”
    Titus 3:5

  • BEHIND THE CURTAINS

    BEHIND THE CURTAINS
    By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

    “The act on the stage of our life will probably always look better than what goes on behind the curtains,
    but as long as we are willing to face the contrast,
    and struggle to minimize it,
    the tension can keep us humble by allowing us to offer our services to others,
    without being whole ourselves.”
    Henri J.M. Nouwen

    “Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, and in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom.”
    Psalm 51:6
