"And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.

.... And the Lord said unto Moses, 'Stretch out thine hand over the sea, that the waters may come again upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.' And Moses stretched forth his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to his strength when the morning appeared, and the Egyptians fled against it, and the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea. And the waters returned and covered the chariots, and the horsemen, and all the host of Pharoah that came into the sea after them; there remained not so much as one of them. But the children of Israel walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea; and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand and on their left."
Exodus 14:21-22 & 26-29

Today's Read: Exodus 14; Psalm 144
Here we see and give witness to the evidence of God's substantial provision to His people. We witness the remarkable majesty of His sovereign protection over a people He had claimed for His own, united by the "kinship of captivity" some four hundred plus years. Exodus 12:40.
Three valuable insights to ponder on:
1) God fulfills His word to the Tee, guaranteed.
Consider the prophecy issued to Abraham and marvel:
"And He said unto Abram, 'Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years. And also, that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge; and afterward shall they come out with great substance.'"
Exodus 15:13-14
The story of the waters dividing is so much more than a story about waters dividing, my friend. It's a powerful enforcement and prophetic fulfillment of God's word.
This passage marks the beginning of God's redemptive rescue of His people and His signature on them as He "parts the waters" before them.
A visible reminder that every one of God's promises is going to be fulfilled from beginning to end as He has promised.
He will rescue, redeem, and receive His own.
What blessed assurance belongs to the individual who steeps in the knowledge and believes in the certainty and absolution of God's word.
Be blessed precious reader and seeker.
Keep at it and let nothing and no one stop you.
Great blessing has been appointed "you."
Hebrews 11:6
2) God will defend His own in His time and in His way, guaranteed.
Consider the dismal scene of captivity for over 400 years that Israel endured and ask yourself what probability existed that a captive people owning nothing would become a substantial nation procuring a divine Savior and granted divine and everlasting favor which would become the envy of all other peoples?
What nation would God divide a "sea" for?
What people group possessing nothing ... would become something because of God?
Mmmm ...
We just have to love God's wondrous, emphatic declarations and manifestations of Himself.
The weaker an individual or nation appears, the more beautifully and wondrously God's glory appears.
It is the reality of man's weakness that speaks to the greatness and majesty of God's glory.
Make much of your weakness, my friend.
Understand it, accept it, befriend it.
It's the primary resource from which God will "draw" to reveal Himself
This holy secret is hidden in humility.
Blessed is the one who sees it.
1 Cor.1:26-31; 2 Cor.12:9
3) God has an arsenal of elements and forces at His disposal,
And He has a remarkable tendency to work out His will in contrasts.
God takes the "same" element and chooses to do two very different things with it:
The waters that deliver one ... drown another.
This is God's "way" indeed.
Unknowable ...
But to God alone.
It's God's work and it's God's promise to secure "His" people with deliverance as He determines. How this happens, why this happens, and when this happens is nothing but a mystery to man,
Is the perfect promise of God.
Stake your life to it and subject your soul to it:
The sea will divide ...
When you get to it.
Isaiah 54:17; Numbers 23:19
Three Study Suggestions:
1) Read today's empowering passages and record some of the wondrous realities of God's character. What "seas" has He divided for you?
2) Reveal and record your greatest weaknesses and invite God in to use them and reveal Himself to others through them. What did Israel bring to the table?
3) Hold tight to God and expect to be surprised by what He brings into your life today. Expect your sea to divide.
Remember to thank Him.
