APRIL 30: A TIME TO REST

A TIME TO REST
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

"I'm tired," she said.
That was all.
------
 I held her hand,
wiped her tears,
and allowed her to burrow herself into me.
It was only a moment before words of comfort seized me which I felt compelled to share.
Listen ...
"Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard?
That the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary and the young men shall utterly fall:
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."
Isaiah 40:28-31
-----
Adventure on earth is filled with difficulty, strain, and trial.
We grow tired,
lose desire,
feel uninspired.
It's all part of the journey.
Though we rarely see it at the time,
the agents which weary and tire us tend to catapult and later reenergize us.
We are brought nearer to Christ through difficult step and questionable terrain.
We are not the same.
Life with Christ ...
a sometimes tedious adventure.
-------
Some of us are tired ...
Journey does this to the best of us.
Today is a day to be gentle, thankful, and thoughtful;
to consider how far we've come instead of how far we still have to go.
To release ourselves to expressions of gratitude and thanksgiving:
+Appreciate the view.
+Acknowledge the progressive steps we've taken.
+Give thanks for fellow pilgrims on the journey.
+Worship God
+Rest in Him.
+Share the adventure with others and invite them in.
Inspire ...
------
The Father longs for His voice to to be heard through our lives, that the world may know.
Adventure is about listening to Him and loving Him in proportion to His faithfulness.
Lean into Him and on Him, my friend.
Hear His whisper, take a breath, and consider His questions.
'Hast thou not known?
Hast thou not heard?
That the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth fainteth not, neither is weary ..."

THREE STUDY EMPOWERMENTS
1) God's strength is an attribute rehearsed repeatedly in Isaiah 40. Read it aloud several times and record the questions asked by God throughout.
What do God's questions suggest?
------
2) What part of sacred adventure do you find most exhilarating right now?
Who are the fellow sojournors that most encourage and support your spiritual journey?
How and why?
------
3) Everyone gets tired on the journey.
Enlist the Spirit's help and request the name of an "adventurist" needing encouragement.
Seek to encourage in practical and demonstrable ways.
------
Love the life you live ...
A sacred adventure.
