AUGUST 1 - Meditation: Jeremiah 1:3-6

DAY 1 - J136H
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

Today's Meditation: Jeremiah 1:3-6

"Then I went down to the potter's house, and, behold he wrought a work on the wheels. And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it. Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 'O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as the potter?' saith the Lord. Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel."
Jeremiah 1:3-6

Ladder Rung: J136H
All attempts to lead us into deeper and more meaningful contemplation of the passage are acceptable, no matter how simple.
Each rung holds the reading for the day and is laid out like a license plate in my mind.
If I can see it, I can climb it.
First and last letters are easy to see in my mind:
JeremiaH: J and H
I focus on two letters and develop "word themes" from today's meditation, in order to foster concentration, and deepen contemplation.
- Jehovah (Jehovah happens to begin and end with JH also making it extra memorable)/Jesus
H - Hands/Holding/Handling
The numbers in between are the reference for our passage.
How shall I remember them?
 Begin with 1, then 3, then 6.
I read the passage once ... then quiet.
Three times ... then quiet.
Six times ... then quiet.
I sing the passage, whisper the passage, speak the passage.
Different methods are an enablement to memory.
With clarity I can recall what I read and where I read:
Jehovah's hands are holding and molding our lives.
The hands that hold us, form us, and conform us are not regular hands. They are clean, holy, righteous, pure, and extremely powerful hands.
Jehovah's hands are so strong that nothing and no one can pluck us out of them.
"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my Father's hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand."
John 10:28-29
We are safe and secure in the hands of God.
No matter how lumpy, bumpy, and jumpy we might be, we will become something usable for Him in those hands. He has ahold of us and He's going to keep us, conform us and make us into something usable for His glory.
We exist for Him;
We are wise to respond and surrender ourselves to Him.
A pliable, moldable heart has unlimited potential in Jehovah's hands.
The vessel, in its end, will illustrate a story of God's glory ... and be beautiful.
Great and loving Father,
Thy hands are holy, clean, and pure ...

and my soul is safe, clean, and secure within them.
Thankfulness is offered up to Thee for whatever Thou should choose to make of me.
Use me as an instrument of Thine for noble and concrete purposes.
Cause my speech and study to reflect Thy holiness.
Remove hardness of heart and bitterness from me.
Soften me that I might be suitable,
that "my" hands might be usable, for Thy glory.
Let my life be a molding of Thy grace;
Make my life a living vessel in this place.
