Questions reveal more about the soul than answers;
And the man who dares to ask them suggests a curious and most beautiful form of knowledge.
This month is about you,
Your questions,
And my regard for both.
Let's consider our possibilities and remember that we always have them.
After an attempt at reading God's word through in its entirety for the first time, Megan looked at me in deep frustration and rendered the "reading" desire hopeless,
"Of what use is trying to read, Darrelyn, what I cannot understand?
Hmmm ...
With an earnest desire to "feed the flame," I pose three considerations.
Consideration 1:
 We don't attend school and we don't enter into relationships because of what we know, generally, but because of what we don't know.
We begin at the beginning and procede from there.
In opening up God's word we enter into a relationship just beginning, with the anticipation that it shall foster, forge, and further a deepening communion with time.
Since questions reveal a desire to know more, and not less, about subject matter;
View them as such and welcome them as friends and not intruders.
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the holy is understanding."
Psalm 9:10
Consideration 2:
The letter writer's intention, in regard to God and His word, is to manifest Himself to us.
The letter gets better, therefore, and grows increasingly more intimate with time.
When the goal of intimacy, and not understanding, is our chief desire;
Our understanding grows in great and cumulative measure.
Questions spur hunger, growth, and intimate discourse.
Great understanding is prefaced by an initial lack of understanding.
Let this reality encourage you.
"O Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps."
Jeremiah 10:23
Consideration 3:
The Holy Spirit is a significant and enriching member of the trinity whose work is to interpret the "uninterpretable." God's word doesn't open up to us until the Holy Spirit determines to do so in His time and in His way.
This is one of the most mysterious and magnificent wonders of developing intimacy with God.
When the answers are needed the answers will be provided;
His timing, His way, His deciding.
"As for you, the anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as His anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real and not counterfeit; just as it has taught you, remain in Him."
1 John 2:27
The admittance of all we do not know and all we do not understand allows God the opportunity to display Himself intimately to us.
Expose all wonderings and wanderings to the Lord.
Open up His word and you'll discover with time,
The letter gets better.
