AUGUST 13 - Meditation: Exodus 32:9-14

DAY 13 - E329S

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt
Today's Meditation: Exodus 32:9-14

"And the Lord said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and behold, it is a stiff-necked people: Now, therefore let Me alone, that My wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. And Moses besought the Lord his God, and said, 'Lord, Why doth Thy wrath wax hot against Thy people, which Thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did He bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from Thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against Thy people. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Thy servants, to whom Thou sworest by Thine own self and said unto them, 'I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it forever.'
And the Lord repented of the evil which He thought to do unto His people.'"
Exodus 32:9-14
Ladder Rung: E329S
and S are the first and last letters of Exodus.
Selection of words to aid in memory:
Extraordinary Servant.
Moses tips the scale on the defining of an Extraordinary Servant of God.
32:9 is our reference.
At 3:00 we'll rehearse our passage x2.
At 9:00 PM we'll rehearse the passage before drifting to sleep.
*Might be difficult to go to sleep with such vast discoveries on the mind ... but we'll give it a go.
For theologians in the reading audience who enjoy the challenge of attacking and interpreting Scripture through an academic, theological lens, have at it.
My participation will be limited to an exercise of highlighting "two" virtues which I simply find  breath-takingly outstanding in this passage.
1) The key to exceptional leadership, I believe, is woven deeply into this passage.
What is it?
The ability to identify with, instead of separate from, an obstinate, sinful, and unruly people.
Why Moses chose to do this at a juncture where the people have given themselves over to worship of a golden calf while he, himself, is receiving the commandments of God and blueprint of future provision and promise from God on behalf of the people, suggests a deep and supernatural love demonstative of atypical leadership.
Instead of agreement with God and favorable support with God in His desire to extinguish "this" people; Moses disagrees with God, moves against His desire, and reminds God of His purpose to "distinguish" this people, set them apart, and lovingly lead them into the Promised Land.
O my ... for remarkable, outstanding, and unfathomable leadership skill.
O my ... for favor with God.
Moses is an extraordinary leader because Moses is an extraordinary servant.
Mmmm ....
Good stuff.
2) The relationship existing between God and Moses is undefinable and off-the-charts.
Moses goes directly to the heart of God and moves it.
Yes it is.
Moses had a special "way" with God and God had a special "way" with Moses.
The intimacy that the two of them exchanged and enjoyed speaks to me of the possibilities that are open in my own growing walk with Christ.
God favors individuals who love at an intense level and in unprecedented ways.
God favors individuals who are bent on serving Him and serving others.
God favors individuals who are "recklessly in love" with those He has given us to love.
Moses loved God and Moses loved God's people.
It's not rocket science ... it's too advanced for that.
Moses is made of a supernatural composition and disposition.
God's word encompassed him in heart, soul, and mind, and was a "ready arsenal" for the day of God's battle against His own people.
Moses took God's word and applied it to God, to himself, and to God's people ...
And God remembered.
Mmmm ...
It's just too splendid to write about.
Dive into this passage and explore the possbilities and suggestions put forth for experiencing intimacy with the Almighty.
The possiblities are endless and eternal ... and the intimacy, immortal.
God be praised for His excellent greatness and personalness.
Great and Mysterious Father,
Thy majesty canopies the heavens and contends with man simultaneously.

Thy desire for intimate exchange with fickle frail creatures is not comprehensible.
Thy love is not understandable;
It is exceedingly great and good.
Let penetration of Thy heart and mind become a portion of my desirable experience with Thee.
Let Thy love carry me, convey me, and lead me into depth with Thee, greater discovery of Thee, and growing love for the people Thy hand sovereignly places before me.
Let love for Thee burn in me.
My soul loves Thee.
