"And thou shalt set in it settings of stones, even four rows of stones: the first row shall be sardius, a topaz, and a carbuncle; this shall be the first row. And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond. And the third row a ligure, an agate, and an amethyst. And the fourth row a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper; they shall be set in gold in their enclosings. And the stones shall be with the names of the children of Israel, twelve, according to their names like the engravings of a signet; every one with the names shall they be according to the twelve tribes."
Exodus 28:17-21
Today's stone is the Amethyst and our tribe is Asher.

Located in the third row and to the end of the breastplate of the High Priest, the Amethyst is a well known historic stone composed of beauty and mystique.
Regal purple in color, the Amethyst is, not surprisingly, sought after by subjects of royalty and enlisted as February's birthstone.
Facts about the Amethyst:
+The Amethyst hails from the mineral Quartz family and includes a wide variety of shaded purples.
+Since purple was the ancient traditional color of royalty, the Amethyst adorned the fingers, necks, and bodies of many monarchs and rulers, hence many great and elite discoveries.
+Amethyst is the official gemstone of Ontario (Canadian province,) and traditionally worn by Bishops.
She was also revered as the "Jewel of the gods."
+Brazil now plays host to the largest source of this gemstone.
+ "Ahlamah," the Hebrew word for Amethyst means "dream." The stone was believed to create and cast great visions into the mind of the wearer.
"Amethystos," the Greek word for Amethyst means "sober" and "not drunk." Drinking goblets and cups were made with Amethyst and believed to prevent the drinker from becoming drunk.
The royalty of Asher threads itself meaningfully and beautifully into the Amethyst through its prophecies:
"Out of Asher, his bread shall be fat, and he shall yield royal dainties."
Genesis 49:20
and ...
"And of Asher he said, 'Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil ..."
Deuteronomy 33:24
Indeed, is there any other "color-coated" tribe better suited for the Amethyst than Asher?
God has declared the tribe of Asher a successor to financial blessing and afforded it regal and royal patronage and hierarchy amongst the tribes.
Emblazened on the furthest third row of the High Priest's breastplate, the illumination of the Amethyst transfixes itself to the mind and transfers itself to the perplexing mysterious wonders of royalty affixed to the tribe/child of God as He has affirmed it.
Asher shall be carried and conveyed from one blessing to the next;
from a mortal royalty to an immortal royalty where the color shall hold.
From the monetary to the sanctuary where eternity awaits.
The color purple and the beauty of the Amethyst ...
covered by the crimson of Christ and adorned and worn by the eternal King forever and ever.
Subjects royal to the King.
Let Asher rejoice in his placement of stone on the High Priest's breast where He shall be carried and secure forever.
Let the child of God wear the Amethyst boldly, declaratively, and effectively;
The signature of the child of God ...
And a foot dipped in oil.
Aristocratic Amethyst.
