"And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there He put the man whom He had formed. And out of the ground made the Lord God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is Bdellium and the Onyx stone."
Genesis 2:8-12
Man's first environment was perfect and beautiful.
God conceived and created the Garden of Eden for him and filled it with trees, rivers, and lands teeming with life and every form of creative substance.
He decked out the skies, created the firmaments, and made man's life and breath a productive and living reality.
He created: Animals, birds, herbs, fruits, spices, jewels, stones, minerals, and every kind of natural resource one can imagine.
Man's environment was magnificent, perfect, beautiful, and entirely unpolluted and undefiled. There wasn't a thing which God created which didn't have the stamped approval of "good" written upon it.
But so many wonders about the Garden remain unsolved mysteries:
The beautiful gem-shining land of Havilah and the River Pison being two of them, with no concrete placement attending. Still it is a land of Gold (August 21st Study,) Onyx (August 16th Study,) and Bdellium.
A beautiful and idyllic land of beginning ... a land of shining enchantment.

Facts about Bdellium and its land source:
+Havilah remains an unidentified early land of jewels with the unidentified River Pison running through it.
+Bdellium is a semi-transparent resin thought to be similar to a gum-like balsam extracted from trees in Africa.
+Some believe that Bdellium denotes "pearls" or a costly and precious stone.
+A healthy consideration toward pearls resonates with me personally, since "Bdellium" appears only one other time in the Scripture, and in relation to manna:
"And the manna was as coriander seed and the color thereof as the color of Bdellium."
Numbers 11:7
Curious and interesting.
Bdellium remains a mysterious and intriguing jewel, with the land of Havilah and the River Pison ... running through.
A river runs through it.
Allow your mind to wander and discover the jewels which the river leads to.
Bdellium. Gold. Onyx.
