AUGUST 30 - Meditation: Philippians 4:8

DAY 30 - P48S

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt
Today's Meditation: Philippians 4:8

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."
Philippians 4:8

Ladder Rung: P48S
P and S are the first and last letters of Philippians.
Selection of words to aid in memory:
Praise Strengthens.
All that strengthens us in Christ, and further attaches us to Christ, is deemed provisionary from Christ and is worthy of praise to Christ, no matter how painful.
4:8 is our reference.
At 4:00 PM we'll rehearse our passage x8 (whisper, sing, speak, share, etc.) and keep it moving in our minds throughout the day.
------
When Christ is lifted up, we are lifted up.
When Christ is glorified, we are being sanctified.
Praise ushers us into the throneroom of God's presence and is an environment condusive for growth, healing, and communion with the Almighty.
There is never a time and never a context where praise is not able to "counter" all that we encounter.
Rely on the stability of this reality and begin to reprogram and reinforce your mind with all that is written in God's word ... and you'll be blessed.
------
Descriptive words caught my eye in this passage and if we are to fill our minds with them, then we ought to know what defines them. Utilizing other Scripture, we will walk our minds into the hallway of marked passages, and be blessed further in the corridor called grace.
Here are our words:
True, Honest, Just, Pure, Lovely, Good report, Virtuous, Praiseworthy.
True - "Thy Word is true from the beginning; and every one of Thy righteous judgments endureth forever." Psalm 119:160
Honest - "He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within My house; he that telleth lies shall not tarry in My sight."  Psalm 101:7
Just - "To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice. A high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin." Proverbs 21:3-4
Pure - "Every word of God is pure; He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him." Proverbs 30:5
Lovely - "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Good Report - "Thou art good, and doest good; teach me Thy statutes." Psalm 119:68
Virtuous - "Behold, I have longed after Thy precepts; quicken me in Thy righteousness." Psalm 119:40
Praiseworthy "I will extol Thee, my God, O King; and I will bless Thy name forever and ever. Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name forever and ever."
Psalm 145:1-2
------
When our minds align themselves with God's truths, and we immerse ourselves in that which is unchanging and uncompromising, we have a power, strength, and sufficiency which proves faithful to the prevailing of holiness both within and without.
When we saturate ourselves with God's word we show ourselves wise, discerning, and defeating all that threatens to defeat and destroy us.
The mind is the hinge-pin to freedom in Christ;
Link it to that which will never let you go; fill it with that which will remain true to the end:
The Living, loving, everlasting faithful God.
Yours is Christ.
-----
Great and sufficient Father,
All of Thy word contains all of that which fosters communion with Thee and affords strength, solace, security, and steady growth in Thee. Let impairment of soul, mind, and body be repaired with the structure and solidifying of Thy word.
Speak to me and let the mind of Christ be stationed within me as an anchor, hope, and source of all that leads me closer into a walk with Thee.
For Thy great and precious Word afforded me and entrusted me,
Thanksgiving and praise is offered Thee.
Keep me close to Thee,
And let me be found in Thee,

And bound to Thee.
Amen.
