BE QUIET AWHILE

BE QUIET AWHILE
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

“Sensual cravings sometimes entice you to wander around, but when the moment is past, what do you bring back with you save a disturbed conscience and heavy heart? A happy going often leads to a sad return, a merry evening to a mournful dawn. Thus, all carnal joy begins sweetly but in the end brings remorse and death.”
-Thomas Kempis
----
Sensual cravings,
Internal urges,
Earthly wants
and
A host of carnal desires beg to be filled inside of man.
This is true of every individual and not just a few.
Don’t tell yourself that your struggles are somehow:
Exceptional,
Unique,
Different,
More intense.
Each man must reckon with a sin nature of his own.
Each man must deal daily with temptation and depravity within his soul.
----
How does one effectively do it?
Get into your communion “cell” with Christ.
Be quiet awhile.
Pray,
Meditate,
Steep in the word,
Saturate yourself with all that is pure.
The internal lusts will only be settled by the internal peace of Christ;
Wants and cravings will only be satisfied by a deeper union with Christ;
Corruptions and impurities only removed by the blood of Christ.
----
It is well to get alone with the Lord.
Don’t neglect your time with Him.
He is calling ...

Be quiet awhile.

“Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And there is none upon earth that I desire beside Thee. My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Psalm 73:25-26
