By: Darrelyn L. Tutt"BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM CDT THIS EVENING.-Blizzard conditions. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph will cause whiteout conditions in blowing snow. Significant drifting of the snow is likely. Additional snow accumulations of 6 to 11 inches, with localized amounts up to 12 inches are expected."-National Weather Service------Situated in the heart of this blizzard, we read the warnings issued by the hour. Many of you are hunkered down, along with us, surveying from your windows the extreme conditions of our present blizzard.Last night we listened to torrents of strange hail and mysteriously loud thunders pierce the skies and then transition into a magnificent crescendo of snow-white blizzard effects.Crazy April weather indeed.-----Hmmm ....A reminder of how "not in control" we are.We can dream, plan, surmise ...And still be caught off guard and surprised by all that we cannot control. We live our lives with pathetic attempts to sustain ourselves and control our little environments, and then we are reminded "in the storms of life" that we are subjects to and subject to, elements and storms decidedly outside of our control. While we don't like it, we are forced to order our lives "around the storms" and adjust ourselves accordingly. An individual once asserted to me that plans are, indeed, subject to change, and so we must change our plans to adapt to that which meets us.Is it uncomfortable and upsetting? You bet!Is it growthful, challenging, and valuable in the end?You bet!------We learn, we grow, we adapt, and we change in this God-mysterious transitionary season called conformity.Generally, it's the storm that ushers it in.We don't have to like it ... but we do have to subject ourselves to it and surrender.God be praised for these seemingly God-forsaken "storms" that induce conformity and forever change us.God be praised for storms that come,For storms that pass,And everything in between. There's more to come ...------"Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold and there shall be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength, and He will make my feet like hinds' feet, and He will make me to walk upon mine high places."Habakkuk 3:17-19Praise Him in the storms ...He's in control.
