DEEPER YET

DEEPER YET
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

The thorn pierced deep;
The puncture was felt.
Deep in the soul it lodged itself,
Burrowing deep into the hungry flesh,
Forming an impression unforgettable.
The etching of vein permanently seared into the soul's naked skin;
Webbed etchings of threaded intricacy woven into it,
Permanently embossed and highlighted in crimson,
Traces of scarlet enhancing.
This buried, invisible, thorned-glass shard silently piercing the soul.
Unforgiving,
Cruel,
Silent,
Deep,
Intentional.
Probing ... Twisting ... Turning.
And always this burning,
The Thorn.
The bleeding never stops this side of heaven.
The soul, where it has loved, will feel the pain.
The soul loves deeper yet,
And this ...
It's gain.
