The word "favored" is flavored with goodness:
-A sense of blessing bestowed and provisions attending.
-A sense of chosenness known and comforts descending.
Favor is wonderfully desired and looked upon in all of its glory ... but that's not the end of the story to the thing called favor.
There's a contrast to deal with and God is very big into contrasts;
His thoughts, ideas, themes, and suggestions run contrary and contrasting to mans' on every level.
"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts."
Isaiah 55:8-9
The loving favor of God reached its pinnacle when it rested on His Christ.
JESUS was His "One" and only begotten Son, the highly favored and anointed of the Father. The offspring and very "oneness" of divinity displayed in humility and humanity.
Mysterious and curious ...
the words which begin our defining of "favor."
Favor bestows itself in strange ways and certainly with the Christ as our example, we begin to witness discongruity and disagreement of thought in the defining of favor. Favor might not mean what we hoped for it to mean; it might not be what we supposed it to be.
Favor is not a gift tucked tidily into a box, wrapped up and complete with a white satin bow.
Favor is an appointment of clarified separation of man with God and God with man.
It involved a jagged and splintered cross,
spikes and nails,
sweat and blood,
and it's topped off with a crown of thorns.
"He is despised and rejected of men; a man with sorrows and acquainted with grief; and we hid as it were our faces from him; He was despised and we esteemed Him not. Surely He hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted."
Isaiah 53:3-4
Favor from God results in jealousy and persecution from man.
"Ye have not chosen Me but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He may give it to you. These things I command you, that ye love one another. If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept My saying, they will keep yours also."
John 15:16-20
Over and over in the upcoming month we will witness the contrasting results of favor.
Favor is not as pleasant and manicured as we want it to be.
Favor is the holocaust revisited.
Favor is the pit, the prison, and the dungeon.
Favor translates into horrific realities conceived in the minds of men in an attempt to nullify it.
The loving favor of God is attended with both triumph and trial,
preservation and persecution,
but always and forever ...
the promise and presence of God.
Forever favored.
May loving favor meet you, separation be appointed you, and the highest calling of God prevail favorably upon you.
"The Lord bless thee and keep thee; the Lord make His face shine upon thee and be gracious unto thee. The Lord lift up His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."
Numbers 6:24-26
