FEBRUARY 26: WHO TOUCHED ME?

WHO TOUCHED ME?

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind Him, and touched the border of His garment; and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said,
Who touched Me?
And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched Me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of Me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before Him, she declared unto Him before all the people for what cause she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
Luke 8:43-48
Today's Read: Luke 8; Isaiah 26
------
Why did Christ wish to be acknowledged by an "unclean" woman?
Why does Christ desire to be acknowledged by anybody unclean?
Today I'm going to cut to the chase with an emphatic declaration that the "unclean" woman who touched Jesus is a visual representation of all of us.
We are all unclean ... and any man unwilling to make this declaration doesn't know Christ and isn't from Christ.
But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities like the wind have taken us away. And there is none that calleth upon Thy name, that stirreth up himself to take ahold of Thee; for Thou hast hid Thy face from us, and hast consumed us because of our iniquities. But now, O Lord, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our Potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand.
Isaiah 64:6-8
------
This is an unbiased proclamation and declaration of man from God Almighty.
Exclusions do not exist.
Hmmm....
That Christ should desire to personally acknowledge the woman in the masses, and openly in front of the masses, attests to the unbelievable and inconceivable love, mercy, and grace of God.
-That Christ should be touched by a needy, unclean, bleeding woman,
-That He should allow her entrance into His presence,
-That He should allow her to get near enough to touch Him,
-And that He should then allow His power to touch her is an absolute declaration, not of the woman's state, but of God's merciful state which is just too big for words.
Christ is just so infinitely beautiful, wonderful, and "inappropriate" and He is totally unafraid of the masses and of men.
He knows the "nobody's", lifts up the "lowbody's," and identifies with the defiled, disillusioned, disoriented individuals society calls rejects, misfits, and unfits.
And God decides the case and alters the state of all who come to Him.
Hmmm ...
The unclean bleeding woman had an understanding of God that set her "apart" from the masses. A "bleeding nobody" and reject of society banished to a life of aloneness and isolation made a choice to cast in her lot with Jesus and made her way to Him. In direct violation of the law, she sought out the One who could save her from the law, and from her bleeding, and she touched Him.

They say, "It's not what you know but who you know."
More and more I'm inclined to believe this statement.
The woman knew Jesus,
And she knew that getting to Jesus was the answer to "living" again.
She knew the One who had the power to deliver her from her dilemma was a "touch away."
So the questions to ask "yourself" are:
Do you know who the woman knows?
Have you touched Him?
The woman is "you" and the woman is "me" and once we make that discovery we'll stop a permanent life-long "bleed" and begin to live again.
Listen to the Father's heart and draw near to Him.
He's just a touch away.
Reach.

Three Study Suggestions:
1) Let today's Scriptures settle in you and speak to you, and then respond to Christ's presence in your midst.
2) Draw near to Jesus and refuse to look to anyone other than "Him" for your deliverance.
3) Christ wields the power to empower you, alter your state, and stop the bleeding.
Let Him love on you.
