FEBRUARY 28: LET IT GO
LET IT GO
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt
Lift up your eyes to the heavens and look upon the earth beneath; for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner; but My salvation shall be forever, and My righteousness shall not be abolished. Hearken unto Me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be afraid ye of their revilings. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but My righteousness shall be forever, and My salvation from generation to generation.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise and the elements shall melt with fervent heat; the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
2 Peter 3:10
Today's Read: Isaiah 51; 2 Peter 3
This selected closing pasage, February's finale, strikes a chord in the seeker's heart to keep with the secrets of the Holy God and His kingdom and remain in a strained state of watchful and hopeful anticipation as things on fleeting earth wind down.
The great showdown between God and his rival Satan is drawing near.
Blessed are all those who hear the drumbeat of revival beating in their souls and continue a steady earnest walk with their Savior.
Three guiding "directives" are situated in this passage and laden with provision when we obediently respond.
Lift Up Your Eyes.
Feet follow focal point.
If earth is taking center stage in your life and your eyes are preoccupied with people and possessions, you are going to lose your way.
This isn't a possibility ... this is a guarantee.
If you've been living a sloppy life, God has given you this new day to begin a purpose-filled life found only in Him.
Look about you and record everything around you that has the potential to burn up or be destroyed and then consider the time you're giving it.
Not even Earth is going to survive God's fury and blast at the end.
Look to the things that are not going to leave you and cling to them ardently and persuasively.
"But My salvation shall be forever and My righteousness shall not be abolished."
Hearken Unto Me.
The word hearken has the word "hear" in its beginning and means exactly that.
Hear and listen in a hard earnest way.
Get God's word
Place portions of His word on your body; write it on your hands or on your feet.
Keep scripture passages in your vehicle, on your windshield, in your wallet, wherever you spend time.
Rip out hymns (old hymnals are being discarded left and right) and keep the spirit of praise in you continually.
Fight to keep your hearing in tune with God's voice.
Shut off the internet, shut out the voices, leave off the radio and the songs that take you places that lead to nowhere ... and let go of what isn't going to lead you to God.
"Hearken unto Me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is My law."
Fear Ye Not.
God is the only being worthy to fear on earth.
Fear of man will lead you the wrong way every day!
Emphatic exclamation on this statement.
If there is any one thing more detrimental to spiritual growth and more cancer corrosive than fear of man, I haven't found it.
Fear of man is spoken of by God repeatedly because He recognizes our desire for his approval and the sense of identity we either lose or gain based on his fickle response.
We lie, cheat, deceive, project, pretend, and do a thousand false things to be approved by man.
To appear a certain way to man,
To be liked by man,
To fear man,
Is in man.
It's a crazy deal ... and God says,
Let it go and be done with man;
Fear the Lord alone.
Your redemptive rights and "child rights" are sealed and securely tied to God the Father through Christ His Son, and realized in you by His Holy Spirit.
The less you care what others think and the more you "mind" what God thinks,
the more powerful, profound, and purposeful your life will become.
"Fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings. For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool."
Let nothing move you but that which has the power to eternally change you and prepare you for the life to come
"But My salvation shall be forever, and My salvation from generation to generation."
