POOR IS MOREBy: Darrelyn L. TuttAnd He looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. And He also saw a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And He said,“Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all that living that she had.”Luke 21:1-4-----Christ’s eye is drawn to the different one,The overlooked one,The undervalued one,The invisible one.Looking beyond the blindness of the religious, powerful, and wealthy,His eye remains steady and transfixed on the beautiful silent widow. She is beautifully captivating to Him.She is the participant in the crowded audience that garners Christ’s attention; She is the giver who identifies best with His mission. She is the “favored" one.She is the woman who, with deliberate intention, knows how to give in intimate expression. And with the drop of a few small coins … she says nothing and everything all at once. And she is rewarded by the commendation of her Savior.Did she feel Christ’s presence that day so near?I think so.Did she experience the watchful care of the Holy One upon her?I’m guessing she experienced a presence of Christ that the others had never even come close to.-----Quietly and deliberately she slips away from the milling masses congregating around Jesus and she turns and walks toward home. It’s been a good day.In giving all she had to Jesus,She was given an internal treasure of inestimable value. The favor of God.Blessed are the poor and poverty stricken ...for they shall see Him.-------"Blessed are the poor in spirit; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."Matthew 5:3
