New car tires hadn’t been on for even a week when they intersected a gravel road and a healthy nail. The nail drove herself into the rubber frame of the passenger back left tire and deflated her in just moments.
The tire came off, a spare was put on, and plans for a little get-away the next day were postponed and replaced with a necessary trip to the repair shop.
God doesn’t require monumental circumstances or crises to get our attention or cause us to adjust our plans …
He just needs a nail.
Maybe it’s a rescheduled doctor appointment,
an unexpected knock at the door,
or a child that woke up sick.
Like an untimely nail in a new tire … God causes us to slow down and readjust ourselves to a new schedule brought about by Him.
We sometimes bulk at the temporary inconveniences that seem to line our day and lives with flats and derailments … when in actuality we ought to be praising God for the unknowns that we might have been spared.
Consider and reflect upon the recent and inconvenient “nails in the tire” you’ve encountered and realize the enormity of resources available 24/7 to God’s providential and sovereign hand.
He knows what He’s doing in your life, dear one, and He knows where you need to be.
Be sure that His backup plan, involving a spare and a trip to the car shop, are all part of something much bigger for your life.
Thank God for His protection, preservation, and sovereignty in orchestrating and preparing the "nails" needed for your life that are producing something bigger than what you might see.
Thank Him for the “flats,"
For altered plans,
For sovereign hands ...
And a God who knows your way.
Put your energy into putting the "spare" on ...
 And be on your way.

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
Romans 8:28
