JULY 20 - John 15:16 and Jeremiah 1:5-8

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

"Ye have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you."
John 15:16

"Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee (Jeremiah,) and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Then said I, 'Ah, Lord God! behold I cannot speak; for I am a child.' But the Lord said unto me, 'Say not, I am a child; for thou shalt go to all that I send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak. Be not afraid of their faces; for I am with thee to deliver thee,' saith the Lord."
Jeremiah 1:5-8

Memory Catcher: Look at the last two letters of JeremiAh ... Lord God! Behold I cannot speak; for I am a child."
At the end of Jeremiah lies weakness, which when understood, is the key to witnessing and experiencing the beginning of God's power.
In the midst of Jeremiah is a portion of the word "remain" with a little "turn around" on the vowels, but still enough that it reminds us of the promise in John 15:16 that we shall remain in Him and bear fruit in Him.
It is not possible for you to come to Christ apart from Christ first coming to you.
This ought to be a great consolation and comfort each time you seek the Lord, for in seeking Him you merely display a response to His earlier initiation.
Conversation with God, conviction by God, and communion with God are assertions that Christ is actively employed in your life no matter what difficulties and trials await you.
None can remove the state of privilege, ordination, or calling that God has placed on your life, and none have the power to remove you from God's presence, power, or position.
The deal is sealed.
Your name is claimed.
Your soul is whole.
And "you" are His child reconciled ... to Christ and in Christ alone.
These truths will remain.
As God's power was manifest and made known through Jeremiah's life, so it will be made known in yours.
His Spirit within you is your promise and guarantee. (Romans 8:15-17)
Christ has chosen you before the creation of the world.
Christ has ordained you to bring forth fruit in the world.
Christ will remain in you until He takes you out of this world.
*Ordained is a special word that ascribes a special position of anointing, consecration, and holy appointment conferred on "you" by Christ.
Relish it and savor it ... it's yours.
Study the life of Jeremiah (begin today with the first 3 chapters) and you will witness the steady hand of God within it;
Times grew rough and the going got tough but God's presence remained.
Settle your heart in the living word and the Living Word will settle you.
You will remain.
Thou, Lord, hast chosen me and placed Thy great name over my frail frame.
Thou art a great, mysterious, and Merciful Father.
Thou hast granted me a station undeserved and an eternity preserved forever with Thee.
Thou hast afforded my soul with the sustenance of Thy word and Thy great and Holy Spirit. That Thou shouldest abide with me ... is a revelation to great for me to comprehend.
For initiation in relationship to me,
Communion with me,
Conversation with me,
Conviction ongoing in me,
My soul gives Thee praise and acknowledges Thy power and presence alone in the sustaining of it.
Cause my life to be afforded great fruitfulness as I steep with the "One" who steeps in me.
Bring forth Thy righteousness and make rich and full the fruit Thou hast ordained for me.
That Thou remains with me ...
I give Thee praise.
