JULY 31 - James 1:17 and Matthew 1:21

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
James 1:17
"And she (Mary) shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins."
Matthew 1:21
Memory Catcher: Utilizing a number instead of a word/letter can be extremely advantageous where memory is concerned. Mary is composed of 4 letters so I'll utilize her name as an acrostic and the #4 to direct me back to her name.
MARY - Mercy And Redemption 4 You.
The gift of Salvation was a gift "implanted" in Mary's womb and extended to the world in order to deliver us from our sin (Mary's included.)
JESUS is the good and perfect gift.
"And Mary said,
'My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior. For He hath regarded the low estate of His handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall called me blessed. For He that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is His name. And His mercy is on them that fear Him from generation to generation. He hath showed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich He hath sent empty away. He hath helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy; as He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever.'"
Luke 1:46-55

The beautiful Magnificat (Latin word for the phrase: "My soul magnifies the Lord.")
The Magnificat is a precious pouring forth of praise,
"... It is like the precious ointment upon the head that ran down the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life forevermore."
Psalm 133:2-3

The praise that flows forth from the lips of Mary moves into Psalm 133 (Unity Psalm) beautifully, and the fragrant language moves and soothes like oil upon the soul ... flowing down.
 Blessed Savior,
Merciful Redeemer,
Righteous Restorer,
Holy Healer,
Savior of sinners,
Soul's salvation.
The gifts of God descending down on the souls of men.
The one-time, for all-time Sufficiency,
Extended to the soul to make it whole ...
The gift that no man can take away;
The gift that will not rot or fade away ...
The gift of God's presence,
forever and always;
 Reserved in heaven for you.
1 Peter 1:4
Meditate on the passages, so praiseworthy, and allow the Spirit to erupt in an overflow of language expressing "your own" soul's gratefulness. Stay with it, rehearse it, immerse yourself in it until it takes ahold of you, floods you, fills you, and changes you.
Lectio Divina:
Divine reading and contemplation of the Divine Being.
Meditate and experience intimacy with the Living Word.
Dwell with Him ...
Our beautiful Savior.
Father, great and glorious loving God,
For the salvation of souls steeped in sin and the gift of salvation secured within,
We offer Thee the sacrifice of praise.
Thou art ...
 Alpha and Omega,
Beginning and the End,
 First and the Last,
Shepherd and Friend.
Savior of mankind and Ruler to the end ...
Thou, alone, art worthy to be praised.

Let meditation of Thy name be the "blood around the frame" of my soul.
For Thy great salvation,
For cleansing ...
Thou, alone, art worthy to be praised.
