JULY 8 - Romans 8:38-39 and Daniel 6:16-17

DAY 8 – PROFILES AND PROMISES
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
and
“Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the kings spoke and said unto Daniel, ‘Thy God whom thou servest continually, He will deliver thee.’ And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of the lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.”
Daniel 6:16-17
------
Memory Catcher: Neither death nor life,
Neither den of lions.
Note the likeness of letters in the initial words and it keeps the promise and the profile bridged beautifully.
Neither death nor life,
Neither den of lions,
Can separate us from the love of God.
-----
Daniel landed in a lion’s den, not because he had committed an evil or a wrong, but because he maintained a daily spiritual discipline that had been denied him.
Forbidden to worship and bend the knee to God … he did it anyway.
“Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went to his house, and his windows being opened in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks to God as he did aforetime. Then these men assembled and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God.”
Daniel 6:10-11
Displaying an open loyalty and love for God, Daniel openly and unabashedly, without fear of reprisal, placed himself on his knees in surrender to God and let be what would be.
The secret of Daniel’s success:
Love of God was greater than fear of man.
Regardless of what entered Daniel’s life, he kept to his course with God, and enjoyed one of the most intimate and dynamic relationships with Him of all the characters in the Bible;
Daniel's God was a living, breathing, bold reality.
Mmmmm ....
He blesses and inspires wonderfully!
-----
We each face our own “den of lions,” in distinct and different ways in our journey with the Lord but ultimately the battle is the same:
We must choose love of God or fear of man.
Whichever we choose will become the ruling force and determinant of how we live our lives.
Daniel’s profile speaks sufficiently to our moments of fear and weakness, inciting us and inviting us to get on our knees, come what may, and leave the outcome in the hands of the One who controls it.
Deny man the right to deprive you of the grace God desires to inhabit you with and be sure that you will catch more than a glimpse of His glory in doing so.
Nothing ... absolutely nothing and no one has the power to separate you from the infinite and intimate love of God.
Cling to this truth and rehearse Romans 8:38-39 seven times over.
-----
O holy and majestic God,
Thou who governs the galaxies and determines man's destiny, Thou alone, ought to be feared and revered. Grant place to no man, nor allow fear of man, to dictate the course of my actions in this day. Let this mortal soul be swallowed up by Thy immortal grace that all decisions made in this day pave the way to a deeper acknowledgment of Thee and a greater sense of the “more” that is to follow.
Let love of Thee be my end theme and fear of man be put to death.
Grant a supernatural boldness to this earthly frame and manifest Thy glory as Thou deemest best.
Through Thee and unto Thee …
All praise be.
Amen.
