JUNE 11: HIDDEN TREASURE

HIDDEN TREASURE
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field."
Matthew 13:44
Today's Read: Matthew 13; Psalm 119
------
The beauty of hidden treasure is the seeker's earnest pleasure in the finding of it.

Such treasure does not come without the necessary factors of time, energy, and pursuit employed. Such treasure is not realized apart from the Holy Spirit's presence and empowerment in our lives.
Pursuit of Christ is a worthy and eternal endeavor and the man who undertakes such pursuit will be sustained wonderfully in supernatural and unearthly ways as a result.
The reader is here challenged in such pursuit:
P - Prioritize your life and get it in order as though you were making your final will and testament. Make an appointment with God as you might with an attorney and engage with Him on how your life ought to be spent.
Acknowledge God before all others and make Him your number one priority.
----
U - Unite yourself with those individuals and details which compose your pursuit.
Don't be sloppy in the company you keep, the language you speak, or the direction you're headed.
Deliberately and forthrightly align and unite yourself with all that is in keeping with a pursuit of God in your life.
----
R - Read God's word daily and store it up in you.
Refuse to settle for man's fickle words and get a word in you which will never fail, falter, or lead you astray. Anchor yourself to a word that never changes and that word will anchor itself to you.
The reading of God's word is foundational to pursuit of God.
Read Psalm 119 and record the discoveries to be afforded you in the reading of His word.
----
S - Seize opportunities placed before you.
Acknowledge individuals, circumstances, tests, and trials as part of God's pursuit of "you." View your response to them as part of a necessary exchange between you and God in the fostering of developed intimacy and character.
See obstacles as opportunities;
Seize them, offer them up to God, and see what He will do with them.
----
U - Unplug from earthly distractions.
Hit the delete on Facebook, phone, and texting and absorb yourself in a more worthy attainment than social media.
Deliberately "unplug" for a specific amount of hours every day and plug into a relational time investment with God.
Eternal ramifications are yours to enjoy in the "unplugging."
----
I -Intentionally invest in authors, activities, and realtionships that spawn and spur spiritual growth. Intentionally leave off those authors, activities, and relationships which lead you otherwise.
Learn to be selective, without apology, in the pursuits deemed worthy to you.
---
T- Trust God to steadily employ you with God-glorifying opportunities that bring you closer to Him.
Time with Him,
Time in His word,
And time with those He leads you to will translate into a treasure that exceeds all pleasures on earth.
"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth and for joy thereof, goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field."
Matthew 13:44

Three Study Considerations:
1) Assess your life.
Prioritize it.
2) Read God's word.
Have a plan.
3) Pull someone into the "treasure" hunt.
This is the way we love.
