BUT SAY IN A WORDBy: Darrelyn L. Tutt
Then Jesus went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not Thyself; for I am not worthy that Thou shouldsn't enter under my roof: Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto Thee: but say in a word and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard these things, He marvelled at him, and turned about and said unto the people that followed Him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.Luke 7:6-10--------But say in a word ...The Centurian, most likely a citizen and military individual of standing in Rome, secured for himself, not only a favorable standing amongst his people but a favorable standing with Christ. Addressing Christ as "Chief and Sovereign" in his attitude and expression of simple direct faith, he secured for his servant complete healing and restoration of physical body, and for himself he secured an intensified faith and a beautiful suggestion of a growing and dynamic faith in God.With regard to himself as a Superior among men, he simply translated his "outlook and position" of himself over to Christ. He openly, and unhesitatingly suggested that Christ "come and do" the thing He most certainly had the power to do, and Christ wonderfully did it.Christ loved the supernatural imposition put forth on him by this military Gentile figure.Commending the Centurain for his faith to the crowds of Jews milling around Him, He asserts the satisfaction He derives from one fully enforced believing man.All it took was five words sent by a messenger's mouth.Hmmm ...+What would happen if we imposed upon Christ the assertion of divine authority and sovereignty He actually possessed? +What would happen if we approached Christ by translating our own standing with men to a better understanding of Christ?+What would happen if "men of limitation" gave testimony continually to a God without limitation? The possibilities are endless and the miraculous "moment" can begin now for any one of us.-----THREE STUDY CONSIDERATIONS:1) Read today's Scripture and activate it in a personal way in your own life.-----2) Create "five words" of your own that clarify a demonstrative faith in God and speak those words to Him.------3) Translate "your" sense of position to Christ, magnify it exponentially, and assert it to Him. He is wonderfully and beautifully able to perform the miraculous in your life.Direct and simple gets it done.Go and do likewise.------
