Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spoke and said unto Daniel, thy God whom thou servest continually, He will deliver thee. And a stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet and with the signet of his lords, that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace and passed the night fasting; neither were instruments of music brought before him, and his sleep went from him. Then the king arose very early in the morning and went in haste unto the den of lions. And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel, and the king spoke and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God whom thou servest continually able to deliver thee from the lions?
Then said Daniel unto the king, O King, live forever.
My God hath sent His angel and hath shut the lion's mouths that they have not hurt me; forasmuch as before Him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt. Then was the king exceeding glad for him and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no manner of hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God. And the king commanded and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives, and the lions had the mastery of them and broke all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
Daniel 6:16-24

Questions, comments, and considerations on the miraculous.
1) On the night that Daniel was cast into the den, which man do you perceive had the better night of sleep?
My answer is Daniel.
Daniel had entrusted himself to His primary "Caregiver" and I have a sense that he slept very well and experienced an unparalleled and unquestionable sense of God's presence and protection that night.
I don't think men bent on evil are ever privy to true rest, I think true rest is robbed from evil men and reserved for obedient men.
When we are obedient and our focus is on Christ, we will be given rest no matter what sort of lions be lurking about. This is God's promise and it is a miracle.
Isaiah 26:1-6
2) Many individuals were watching to see the outcome of Daniel.
Those who were bent on his destruction did not want to hear a voice come forth from the lion's den in the morning and I cannnot imagine the fear that was theirs when Daniel's voice rang out in reply to the king's sympathetic cry. It must have been a very troubling and upsetting moment of unparalleled anxiety for the men who had prepared evil for Daniel.
In the end, those who prescribed Daniel's destruction were appointed it.
God has His select and appointed ways of dealing with evil men and evil schemes. No matter what kind of lions are about you ... keep your focus on Jesus and let Him deal with the evil around you.
Leave your oppressors in the hands of the Lord.
He will miraculously protect you.
Romans 12:19-21
3) God's glory is His business.
Lions, dens, and threatening situations come into each of our lives in a variety of forms. These times, however fearful they initially may appear, are moments seized and planned by God for His glory. Keep your focus on Christ and continue to absorb yourself in His word no matter what "den" you find yourself in. God promises to deliver and to grant redemption to all those who give themselves over to Him and He promises to grant destruction to all those who resist and refuse Him.
You are the only one you can do something about, so mind your own eyes and your own soul and keep them constant on the One who is in control.
It's God's business what He does ...
and we are a very small, yet very loved part of it. Praise be to God for His eternal hand resting on our frail lives.
Praise be to God for His perfect peace and rest.
Philippians 4:8-9
Miracles happen in the prescribed order God has ordained.
No man can thwart, no animal can silence, no force can disannul the activity God has planned for those He loves.
O King, live forever ...
to God be praise.
Shut the mouth of the lion.
