 On my walk,
Exploring new route;
Adding a mile of new landscape.
Move through unfamiliar area:
Two of them approaching wildly and quickly.

Wild barks and a woman yelling.
I'm terrified, scared senseless.
Stiff movement, heart exploding.
Head down, keep walking.
Fear escalating.
Feet away… lunging, plunging;
Kept in check!
Invisible leash and collar.
Strained, maxed, tried.
Breathing intense; uncontrollable shaking.
Angry dogs, apologetic owner, frightened walker.
Fear subsides.
Strange, untimely, undefined moment.
… And God speaks:
And the Lord said, ‘Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.’”
Luke 22:31-32
Satan’s attack:
Lunging, plunging, roaming
“Be sober, vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.
Whom resist steadfast in the faith…”
1 Peter 1:8-9a
Satan sneaks, strikes, steals, strategizes.
Looks for a stronghold to ensnare God's child.
Mentally, emotionally, physically, relationally, financially, spiritually;
Relentlessly Satan encircles.
But God is greater … more than able,
Powerful, Omniscient, Merciful, Sufficient;
God’s hold secure.
Satan’s attempts stopped;
God’s child …. safe.
God’s promise:
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, which gave them Me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father’s hand.”
John 10:27-29
Walk slows,
Grace overwhelms,
Tears overflow.
God’s mercy applied;
Attached to His child.
Preserved and protected.
Satan’s devices invoked on a life;
Thwarted by a holy hand.
“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail.”
Christ, my sufficiency, interceding for me.
Satan keeps stalking,
Child keeps walking,
God keeps talking.
He holds the leash;
Who holds the child…..
His hand is able, secure.
“For I am persuaded , that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come;
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39
