MAGNETIZED

MAGNETIZED

John Piper never fails to challenge and inspire.
In his book "The Roots of Endurance" he quotes the powerful and insightful Reverend Charles Simeon:

"Repentance is in every view so desirable, so necessary, so suited to honor God, that I seek that above all. The tender heart, the broken and contrite spirit, are to me far above all the joys that I could ever hope for in this vale of tears. I long to be in my proper place, my hand on my mouth, and my mouth in the dust ... I feel this to be safe ground. Here I cannot err ... He will not despise the broken and contrite heart."
-----
And the place, called repentance, which so many of us try to escape is an entrance into true companionship with Christ and the richest of fellowship with a few.
Somehow, the repentant find one another and are magnetized by the cohesive force of grace and Christ at work within.
There can be no explanation for this but the power of God.

"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise."
Psalm 51:17
