Oh the burden of my past,
A life so deeply flawed;
I looked through trial’s lens and missed,
The greater work of God.

Blinded to the mighty hand,
Of providence behind;
The shadows and the wreckage,
That resided in my mind.

But oh….how I was proven wrong,
And God has shown me well;
What He will do within the heart,
That man can never tell.

He’s taken me from miry clay,
And set me on a rock;
And placed me in a pasture,
Where I dwell within His flock.

For God selects and chooses,
In deliberated plan;
The lowly and the branded,
And the frailty of man.

That He would be acknowledged,
In His mercy and His might;
That He, alone, can alter,
Hearts of sin….and make them right.

I rest in this assurance,
Though my heart be deeply flawed;
I bear a testimony to ….
The matchless grace of God.

“But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not,
to bring to nothing the things that are,
that no flesh should glory in His presence.”
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
