MAY 29 - Proverbs 29 and Matthew 15:12-15

MAY 29 – PROVERBS 29 and MATTHEW 15:12-15
By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

“When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall.”
Proverbs 29:16
Rooted Up
“Then came His disciples and said unto Him, Knowest Thou that the Pharisees were offended after they heard this saying?
But He answered and said, Every plant which My heavenly Father hath not planted shall be rooted up. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”
Matthew 15:12-15
Illustration with 29 – Utilizing the #2, I create a simple candy cane (blind man’s cane,) and use the base of the #2 for the stick man, #9 to stand on. The stick man’s eye is looking down and his hand is reaching for the cane. This illustration brings to mind the spiritual blindness of those with hardened hearts and the severity of God’s dealing with them in the end.
We are to leave well alone those individuals who cast themselves as orators of their own laws and work to impose them on others.
Where religious authority strips men of their redemptive rights and seeks to induce laws and lists of its own making, there is no merit whatsoever. Where pride and intellect meet, we find an unwholesome and ungodly manifestation of authority and power.
Leave off all such individuals and institutions which replace the truths of God with the laws and regulations of men. Do not be encumbered or numbered with such men.
Christ will tend to the “blind” in His time and will render them powerless in their end; they shall fall into their own ditch and be judged by those laws which they imposed upon others.
Look for the redemptive scarlet thread which attaches the sinner to a saving grace and provides restoration and true healing to the soul.
The man who indiscriminately seeks to secure others to “such” a thread is a worthy man to follow and look to for spiritual direction.
The “show” of righteousness by law and not by loving deed is meaningless, powerless and useless; weeds and tares to be left alone.
The seeds which are planted by the Father spring up into deeds of love, compassion and mercy; true extensions of the Father’s redemptive love; notable, productive, and well pleasing.
The wicked will multiply … but so will the righteous.
Each will be drawn to “its own.”
Cause my deeds, Father, to be filled with love and compassion.
Cause me to attach the scarlet thread of redemption to those experiencing difficulty and distress that others might find healing and wholeness in You.
Let love overshadow law;
Let mercy overshadow judgement;
Let truth overshadow shame;
And let glory be to Your name.
In You and through You,
We offer praise.
1) The company you keep suggests a great deal about the life that you seek. What does your company tell you you’re looking for?
2) Where do you see growth in your life? Is your knowledge of the scripture manifesting itself in the way that you love?
3) You need the redemptive power of God at work in your life … and so does your neighbor. Extend to another what you crave for yourself and find yourself blessed.
