Gracious Father,
I am responsible today for the words I speak and the thoughts and ideas that I voice to another.
Would you put a muzzle on my tongue, Lord, and a check in my spirit when I offend You or hurt another today?
Would You teach me how to turn gossip into grace and slander into sympathy?
Would You teach me to speak truth into falsity and to replace hateful words with healing words?
Cause my mouth, Lord, to be an instrument of encouragement, and let my lips show forth Your praise.
Cast away compromising verbal kindling and use my tongue for healing today.
Deeply provoking:
"He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth. He is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so He openeth not His mouth."
Isaiah 53:7

"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace to the hearers."
Ephesians 4:29
