 I didn't turn away as I'd done before ...
And this has made all the difference.
I looked fear, rejection, and condemnation straight in the eye,
And in unflinching resolve,
I refused them all.
Decidedly, deliberately, and unflinchingly,
I held on to the truth which God had spoken of me,
And I dared apply it to myself.
I chose a wise and beautiful course ...
And this has made all the difference.
We think we are at our lowest when, in reality, we are on the heights and at the very peak of absorbing and realizing new realities;
Making new discoveries about the unconditional love and tenderness of God.
The capacity to love and serve is activated at an entirely different level by one who has fallen from the heights and been received, restored, and renewed by the merciful Shepherd.
Christ, the healing Shepherd, comes to all,
And lovingly He meets us when we fall.
We become the hands and feet that heal,
A mystery in this love of God ...
"A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions."
-Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
