SEIZE THE MEMORY

SEIZE THE MEMORY

By: Darrelyn L. Tutt

A mind stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.
-Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.

-------
My heart was racing with anticipation early Friday morning like a fevered thoroughbred in the starting gate before a race.
Heart pounding, pent-up energy preceding,
then lightning speed delivered in release.
-------
We arrived home late last night and just a moment before the clock struck twelve.
I rose at 5:30 AM this morning seized by an unrelenting endorphin rush, feeling the impact of 48 fully engaged hours coursing through me.
Still so fresh and new ... like heavy dew.
The cathartic effects of nature continue a slow absorption in me;
massaging, rejuvenating, replenishing,
needful life and energy.
-------
Nature whispers.
I rejoin her ... but in the familiar landscape of our backyard.
I'm grateful she remains a constant.
The early morning air is heavy with humidity and the grass saturated with dew.
I lie naked on a cool, clean, carpeted bed and soak the dew into my open pores.
Handfuls of grass clenched tightly in hands and cheeks rubbing softly on clover ... and I roll over. The scent of earth, grass, and humidity mingled aromatically and deliciously into me, a cleansing and detoxifying sensation to the body and soul.
Inhale and exhale ... Inhale and exhale.
Breathing becomes slow, calm, and relaxed,
and an invitation to explore and rehearse new memories is extended me.
Beautiful life-giving memories.
I allow myself the pleasure of four "descriptives" per memory with a disection of each to take place more singularly and intimately in days ahead.
Memories creating the greatest depth of emotion, expression, and attachment are enlisted, though many more were enjoyed and part of the adventure.
Listing them sequentially, I assign each with provoking words.
It's a healing and empowering practice.

Writing encourages emotion and interprets memory.
Words create empowerment, provide life, and create energy.
Thoughtful consideration of an experience is filled with discovery.
I invite you along with me.
In sharing and breaking down personal, life-enhancing memories, perhaps I provide new thought for an assimulation of your own.
Inhale and exhale ... Inhale and exhale.
Seize the Memory.
