"Truly You are God, who hides Yourself,
O God of Israel, the Savior!"
Isaiah 45:15

The more I reflected on this truth from Isaiah, the more a picture formed in my mind:
The picture was of a “sniper” on a rooftop hidden in the shadows, melding in with the landscape  imperceptibly;
Undetectable to the eye but very much present.
Indeed, the sniper’s presence, was fortified with protection for all those in his care.
Consider the definition for “sniper.”
“A sniper is a marksman or qualified specialist who operates alone, in a pair, or with a sniper team to maintain close visual contact with the enemy and engage targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the detection capabilities of enemy personnel.”
I think God to be somewhat of a Holy Sniper in our lives.
He is watching us even when He feels removed from us.
He wields an arsenal of unlimited resources and He knows where His children are at all times.
His holy eye detects the movements of the enemy and His holy hand determines the timing of the trigger.
He isn’t dead,
He isn’t absent,
He doesn’t leave us ever without His protection.
Indeed, God remains very much alive, and retains the power of a Holy Sniper in our lives.
We are covered … this is our promise.
We must never mistake our inability to see God for the absence of God:
He may be hidden … but He remains ever present.
He may be quiet … but He remains utterly sovereign.
He may seem impersonal … but He remains our heavenly Father.
Hold on to the realities that surround Him and, in the periods and seasons of life where He is deemed undetected and invisible, remember the Holy Sniper is always there.
He's got you covered and you're safe within His care.
