We stood talking but hearing nothing;
the deafening roar of the waters drowning out our attempts to speak and to be heard.
The sense of our smallness entirely absorbed by a voluminous canopy of descending waters too amazing to articulate:
The sound of the Falls.
Niagara Falls is a composition of three wondrous waterfalls producing the highest flow rate of any waterfall on earth.
Her power, not surprisingly, is channeled into a sizeable source of electricity;
and to be near her and hear her is to experience the power and presence of God in a wondrous and audible way.
The sound of God.
Ezekiel and John try to describe it:
"And behold, the glory of the God of Israel came from the way of the East; and His voice was like the noise of many waters ..."
Ezekiel 43:2
"And His feet like unto fine brass as they burned in a furnace; and His voice as the sound of many waters."
Revelation 1:15
This is the voice of God ... and there is a power to be harnessed in it.
To be near Him is to sufficiently drown out the voice of deficient man and become supernaturally infused with His power.
When the voice of God becomes so deafening that we cannot hear what others are saying to us or about us ...
We are in the place called holiness.

We must stay there,
Remain there,
To hear Him is to be silent, in an understood and reverent recognition of the magnitude of His glory and holiness.
The sound of God's presence is His own,
It is an experience to be had by those listening.
And through His voice,
 His power is made known;
His glory is shown.
To be near Him is simply to hear Him ...
and say nothing at all.

"The voice of the Lord is upon the waters, the God of glory thundereth; the Lord us upon many waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars, yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon ...
The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord shaketh the wilderness of Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord maketh the hinds to calve and discovereth the forests; and in His temple doth everyone speak of His glory. The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King forever.
The Lord will give strength unto His people, the Lord will bless His people with peace."
Psalm 29:3-11
Supremely sufficient ... the voice of the Lord.
Listen to Him.
