Satan doesn’t come to us in pointy horns,
A red cape,
A big pitchfork,
And an evil grimace.
He comes to us in the form of everything we want.
He thinks intelligently,
Works relentlessly,
Moves quietly,
Discerns thoughtfully,
Walks carefully,
Enters craftily.
He is an ambush assailant,
Previewing and reviewing vulnerable prey.
He is quietly hidden,
Biding his time,
Watching the herd.
Subtly, softly, seductively …
He moves across the grassy plain,
Studies the unassuming grazers;
Salivates over the unsuspecting loner.
And then he moves in …
He plays for keeps … Satan does.
His claws are sharp,
His bite is intense,
His roar is weighty.
He comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
He takes his job seriously.
A devouring lion.
Satan comes to us through many forms, my friend.
He adapts himself to our whims and wants.
Takes advantage of times, occasions, and seasons in our lives ...
Watching and waiting for just the right moment,
Attacking through the vein of vulnerability.
Approaching us,
Stalking intentionally.
Don't deceive yourself,
Or think yourself above it.
You're not.
Threads of vulnerability are a composite of humanity.
They will always be.
Take your opponent seriously.
Move into Christ deliberately.
Invest in the One who has the power to
And strengthen your soul.
He is also playing for keeps and He is the stronger;
He is the greater …
Praise be to God,
He prevails.
Stay near Him,
Stay with Him,
Stay in Him.
Saturate yourself in His word,
Speak it out loud,
Sing praise throughout the day.
Do what you need to do to stand your ground.
You’re in a battle,
Lift up your head,
Two lions are fighting.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith …
