 What if God worked half-hearted measures in half-hearted people?
What if our fickleness, faithlessness, frailties, and fears resulted in a Holy divorce?
God separating Himself:
Serving papers,
Demanding alimony,
Calling it quits,
Drawing the line.
No more abiding together.
What if God loving man depended on man loving God?
Then what?
Hmmm …
Dismal, distressing, disheartening, depressing realities would be ours.
We don’t have what it takes to love God decidedly, deservedly, deliberately for even one day;
Sometimes one hour is a monumental task.
God implemented a whole-hearted strategy to love half-hearted people:
He named His plan “Jesus.”
His Son, our Savior.
His life-blood, our hope.
His nearness, our need.
His love, our remedy.
The act of reconciliation in the Holy ceremony called salvation.
God made a full way to love half-hearted man,
And …
God will always be the better half;
And “we” will always be the half He loves.
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying,
Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love:
Therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
Jeremiah 31:3
